Sidener - Joseph Newton

Source: Crawfordsville Review Saturday April 1, 1916

Ladoga, March 31 Joseph Newton SIDENER, one of the well known and respected resident of this community died at his home in this place at 8:30 this evening after a suffering that dates back more than 3 years. Mr. Sidener had been bedfast nearly all that time and his life hung in the balance on many previous occasions. The end therefore was not unexpected but nevertheless regrettable as he was a good neighbor and friend and held the respect of all who knew him. Mr. Sidener was born south of New Market March 23, 1843. In that community he grew to manhood. In Dec 1864 he married Mary Gott daughter of William and Rhoda Gott, pioneers and prominent people of Scott twp. To this union 7 children were born, 4 boys and 3 girls. Three sons preceded Mr. Sidener to the grave. The widow and the following survive: Andrew, Mrs. Lottie Stark, Miss Hallie and Miss Eva. Mr. Sidener lived for many years just SE of this town and was always identified with its up building. Retiring from the farm on account of ill health, he removed to town. Sickness impaired his usefulness in the latter days of his life, but in the days of his activity, he was always found, in his quiet way, striving for the best things for the community on the right side of all questions for the betterment of mankind. The funeral arrangements had not been made at a late hour tonight.
